The Power of Yoga

I teleported in restorative yoga today.. I know it sounds crazy and psychedelic, but it was amazing. I had completely transformed. Human me had dissolved and I felt my atoms evolving and vibrating as I became this vessel or space ship even.. All parts of my body were non-living, except my lungs. My breath was my life force, the engine of my ship. There was no more studio, no more mat, no more gravity. I had freedom to move in any direction, and my breath propelled me to do so. The little white speckles behind my eyes turned into the stars.

I had 2 major epiphanies:
1) I embodied the understanding of how breath is prana = life force.
2) The mind does not necessarily need to be silent, but in order for it to transcend, it must be silent from the reality we know. Any thought of this reality takes me away from the other realm. In "space", I could think and explore.

Had to do some grounding meditation following the practice in order to readjust. I truly felt confused and lost when my eyes were open. I had to briefly relearn this reality.

On the Right Path

I had a nice chat today with my best friend, who is currently living in San Diego. We were both catching up on all the positives and negatives we've been experiencing over the last couple weeks, and she shared a quote that altered my perspective on my place in this universe. I mentioned how my job industry switch from research to attempted tech to fitness has been a mostly positive journey, but that I've felt very confused or lost at many moments. She paraphrased a quote she heard from one of her yoga readings that "if we can see a path ahead of us, we're walking someone else's path."

This inspired me to channel the hiker within me, as I really absorbed deeper meaning from this image. If I'm walking on a visible path, someone else created it. When I'm truly walking my own path, there is no path. I'm creating it with each step. Digging dipper into this imagery, I may be walking through a bush that appears as a shortcut, only to find that it's full of thorns. As long as I learn from my experiences, I can protect myself from walking through that type of bush again the next time I approach one.

It also helped me realize that "lost" is just a perspective.
  • If I watch my life from a 3rd person view, I'll observe a human on a journey. This neutral perspective is simply science, as it is merely observation of discovery, trial-and-error, various motives and speeds, navigation, and strategy.
  • As I watch my life from a 1st person view (or my ego), I am explorative yet emotional; I may be confident, determined, anxious, depressed, fearful, or even, lost. This perspective tends to be the dominate viewpoint of my reality.
  • When I watch my life from within (or my soul), I walk with faith, trust, and security. This viewpoint is the reality I aim to constantly practice until this behavior becomes my dominating perspective. Yoga and meditation have helped me progress towards this shift.

Essentially, I can choose to feel lost, or I can choose to feel right where I need to be - learning, exploring, failing, and trying again while concurrently feeling secure that I can't see the future or don't have all the answers. I don't believe that all ego-views are negative. Some of them can be really amazing, and fear can be healthy to protect us from harm. However, the beauty in learning the ego and discovering soul is in the development of perspectives. The more I learn about, the wider collection of viewpoints/actions/behaviors I have to choose from. With each perspective awakening, I'm unlocking a new filter. Mindful meditation helps me to choose the correct filter for the correct setting.

Gratitude tangent: I'm so thrilled to have accepted my passion in fitness and really to let it manifest itself in my life. The opportunities, network, and certifications that are arising is a blessing, and I'm eager to share this bliss I've found.
